It came down to the last play, but Woodstock North Thunder Varsity was on the wrong end of a 2-1 defeat to Pontiac on Friday. The game was tied at one with Pontiac batting in the bottom of the seventh when #11 doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Pontiac pitchers struck out six, while Woodstock North Thunder Varsity sat down six.
Woodstock North Thunder Varsity got things moving in the second inning. Alex Dodge singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Pontiac tied things up at one. #3 drew a walk, scoring one run.
#16 earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for Pontiac. He allowed zero hits and zero runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking zero.
Jacob Laha took the loss for Woodstock North Thunder Varsity. He allowed four hits and two runs over six and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking one.
Laha went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Woodstock North Thunder Varsity in hits.
