Woodstock North Thunder Varsity took the lead late in the game in a 12-11 victory over Marengo on Friday. The game was tied at 11 with Woodstock North Thunder Varsity batting in the top of the sixth when Collin Cassin’s wild pitch allowed one run to score for Woodstock North Thunder Varsity.
Despite falling down by six runs in the fourth inning, Marengo tried to fight back. Marengo tallied 11 runs in the failed comeback. Patrick Signore, Riley Pankow, Cassin, Zach Winter, Christian Graves, and Devin Moerhlin fueled the rally with RBIs.
Woodstock North Thunder Varsity got on the board in the first inning. Luke Udelhofen grounded out, scoring one run.

Andrew Johnson led things off on the pitcher’s mound for Marengo. The bulldog lasted four and a third innings, allowing nine hits and 11 runs while striking out four. Cassin and Moerhlin entered the game as relief, throwing one and two-thirds innings and one inning respectively.
Woodstock North Thunder Varsity totaled 12 hits. Alex Dodge, Christian Soto-Garcia, Herrmann, and Tyler Fink each collected multiple hits for Woodstock North Thunder Varsity. Dodge went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Woodstock North Thunder Varsity in hits.
Woodstock North Thunder Varsity tore up the base paths, as three players stole at least two bases. Felipe DeAvila led the way with two.
Winter led Marengo with two hits in four at bats.
