The Girls Varsity tennis team defeated Sycamore in a closely contested dual matchup tonight by a score of 4-3 on SENIOR NIGHT. The Thunder received some key victories from first singles Aly Cullotta, second singles Sophia Ferru, third singles Anika Treadway and the first doubles pairing of Kirsten Morey and Juliana Conrad. Aly Cullotta was able to control her match from the onset by hitting groundstrokes for winners and coming up to the net to finish volleys and overheads. Sophia Ferru showed good form in her groundstrokes and kept her opponent off balance with the right amount of consistency and top spin. Kirsten Morey and Juliana Conrad continued their strong play and consistently set each other up for finishing volleys and overheads at the net. No match was as close or as important as the match at third singles. Anika Treadway was able to get out to an early lead and then had to battle back into the second set after dropping a few games. Anika was able to use the positive energy from her teammates and regained form in her groundstrokes. Treadway closed out the win for the Thunder on Senior Night in a second set tie-break and left the Seniors with a memorable match for their last regular season home win. Great job ladies!
