Boys Varsity Soccer · Boys Varsity Soccer beats Harvard 3 – 2 in PK’s to Advance to Semi-Finals


It was a wild night in Woodstock. Both teams scored goals in the opening minutes of play. Thunder Striking first off a cross from Jacob Hernandez, Jesus Lopez put a header past the keeper. Harvard pulled level shortly afterwards. For the next 80 plus minutes both teams went silent in scoring. Thunder soccer dominated possession and outshot their opponent, but neither team found the back of the net again until the second overtime. Harvard struck first this time putting the Hornets ahead 2-1. The Thunder didn’t wait long to respond. In a melee in front of the Harvard net Jesus Lopez was able to pull the Thunder level once again and force PK’s. Eliel Reynoso, Yael Lopez, made their PKs. Riley Bronson saved all 3 PK’s he faced before Damien Alonzo came up to put the final goal in and win the game for the Thunder. This was the first postseason victory for Boys Soccer who now advance to the semi-final round.
